I love myself a good sandwich and Jon Smith delivered. Everybody knows that a good sandwich rests on the foundation of a good bread and the bread here is wonderful. Baked fresh daily, it's perfect. I tried two cold cut sandwiches, the turkey breast and the ham and cheese. Both were delightful and I could taste the freshness of the ingredients. They don't skimp on the meat either. The ratios were on point. I also have to mention that I love how they shred the lettuce (yes, that's a thing when you love sandwiches as I do).
They have a great menu and you can have them make your sandwich however you'd like. I'm in love with the high quality of the sandwiches here.
The restaurant is open and clean and the staff is super friendly. On my next visit, I'm going for a couple of hot sandwiches. Until then, I'll be dreaming about that bread.
Oh, do yourself a favor and try the cookies. I'm normally a chocolate chip type of gal, but the oatmeal raisin cookies were outstanding.
If you want a delicious and fresh sandwich, you've found the place. -

What a great find! We were in town and heading to the beach. I happened to look on Yelp for some nearby restaurants and came across this place that had wonderful reviews. The owner greeted us upon entry and she was super sweet. We began talking she said that she and her husband opened this location about 6 months ago. It is a small sub shop that has a number of tables to sit down and eat as well as a fountain drink station.
The quality of the subs are great. These subs belong in its own category and are so good that one would never want to visit Subway or Jimmy John's again. These are open faced subs that have quality tasty meat in them. The bread is fresh and the portion sizes are huge. They offer both hot and cold subs. Personally, I got the turkey and it was delish! With customer service being a top priority, this restaurant is doing it right. I enjoyed my sub so much that I stopped back on my way out of town and got another one for the road. When I visit Destin again, I will be sure to make another visit. -

Jon Smith Subs has only been open at this location for 6 months. They serve a wide variety of Subs. To include, hot and cold cuts. Unlike you're traditional subway they also serve French Fries made to order.
The owner greeted us as soon as we entered. She was so friendly and helpful. Our Subs came out in record time made just as we had ordered them. -

I can't recommend the sandwiches here.
The idea is great, execution is not so hot.
We ordered a Cuban and a Reuben. The Cuban just wasn't good. Waay Too Salty, couple thin slices of old ham. Ham needs to be thicker sliced and probably four times more ham to call this a Cuban. Also, not enough mustard, pickles or cheese. The bread was good, it was grilled/pressed beautifully, and there was plenty of pulled pork but that didn't make up for the lack of other ingredients.
The Reuben had sauerkraut mixed with thousand island and all grilled together - soggy. Also, eemed like pastrami instead of corned beef. it just wasn't good.
Both sandwiches were served waay too hot to eat. Burning hot... and they don't cool down quick at all.
Prices are much too high (about 9 dollars) for the lack of quality and lack of quantity.
Sorry for the bad review but I came here due to 5 star yelp reviews and there's just no way that this food is anything worthy of five stars.
You can tell from the pictures that the Cuban they are serving does not match their corporate pics.
Some people seem to like it, ok, but what they are serving is nothing like a Cuban! Don't call it a Cuban. Same for the Reuben. Regardless the sandwiches really did not taste good. Oh well!
Edit: I see the owner replied. I guess he's ok with sandwiches too hot to eat. "Let it cool off". And he's happy with reubens that are made with Pastrami instead of corned beef - which I didn't mention in my review but might as well highlight it here: reubens are made with corned beef! And you shouldn't have to request standard condiments on a Cuban. I know you don't like negativity but my advise is to learn from it because my review is legit. -

My fiancé and I stopped by for the first time and received such pleasant service! The shop was very clean and you could tell the owners put their heart & soul into the place. With it being our first time here, we were taking a few minutes to decide on what we wanted. The cashier was incredibly helpful, and doubled as the co-owner; Jon's wife! It's nice to know they're involved and kind. Don't even get me started on how great my Tuna Salad sub and fiancé's Cajun sub were! You'll have to check it out yourself. We'll definitely be back!
